Impala, Soho
attending a soft opening event
Every time I get an opportunity to go to London I get excited about it. I am fond of my town based living in Sussex, but there is a definite draw to the big city. Last night I experienced a first. I had the opportunity to attend a soft opening of a new restaurant in Soho, London. It is part of the Super8 Restaurants. Smoking Goat was the first one to open back in 2014. Impala is the sixth. There is also Kiln, Brat, Brat x Climpson’s Arch and Mountain.
Impala is a North African restaurant run by Meedu Saad (who is the former head chef of Kiln).
A nice glass of red with some honey and olive oil bread in the background
The food itself is centred around the charcoal grill which is quite a presence in the restaurant. As people arrived the activity level heightened so there was more to watch.
The dishes were chosen for us.
Hot grilled squid salad with cumin seed, olives and Neboul harissa
(with a Negroni in the background)
For someone who is not particularly a fan of spicy food, I was pleasantly surprised by the subtlety of the seasoning. Everything was really divine tasting.
Especially dessert…
Date and pistachio tart
The restaurant is located at 13-14 Dean St, London W1D 3RS.
It officially opens on 26 March.
